As a Conference
of Bishops our task is to continue the mission of Jesus Christ the
Redeemer and to announce His Good News to all our people and to
jointly exercise our pastoral office by promoting the religious
betterment and welfare of all the people entrusted to our care.
The Conference
accordingly will pursue these objectives by effectively promoting,
fostering and protecting the interests of the Catholic religion
and of the Catholic faithful and by safeguarding their freedom and
rights. It will undertake charitable works as well as activities
for justice, peace and human development in the interest of the
larger society, based on the social doctrine of the Church.
It will foster
the spirit of ecumenical communion and of inter-religious dialogue
with the members of all other faiths and help make the Church a
leaven of brotherhood and national harmony in our pluralistic
society.
The conference
will collaborate with other Bishops’ Conferences as with those of
the Federation of the Asian Bishops’ Conferences (FABC) of which
it is a member, in matters of common interest to the Church
